INDICATOR DESCRIPTION
The recycling rate is the tonnage of recycled municipal waste, divided by the total municipal waste generated. Recycling includes material recycling, composting and anaerobic digestion. Municipal waste consists to a large extent of waste generated by households, but may also include similar wastes generated by small, mostly service companies and public institutions and collected within the public waste removal of municipal waste (i.e. within the framework of mandatory public utility service of municipal waste collection).
