Almost 50% more passengers travelled through all three Slovenian international airports than a year earlier
In 2021, more than 0.4 million passengers travelled through Ljubljana, Maribor and Portorož airports.
Significantly more passengers at the annual level
Passenger traffic on the three Slovenian international airports (Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport, Portorož Airport) increased by 46% compared to 2020. In total, 0.42 million passengers travelled through these airports, the vast majority through Ljubljana Airport.
Significant increase in passenger and goods traffic on Ljubljana Airport
In 2021, 0.42 million passengers travelled through Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport; 46% more than a year earlier.
80% of all passengers were carried by scheduled flights. The largest passenger traffic with scheduled flights was recorded to or from Germany (23%) and Turkey (13%). The largest increase was recorded to or from Poland (by 102%) and the largest decrease to or from the United Kingdom (by 34%).
57% of passengers on scheduled flights travelled between Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport and airports within the EU-27, and 43% between Ljubljana Airport and airports outside the EU-27.
The largest passenger traffic with unscheduled flights was recorded to or from Greece (53%) and Egypt (18%). The number of passengers did not grow only to or from France but remained at the same level as a year before.
69% of passengers on unscheduled flights travelled between Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport and airports within the EU-27, and 31% between Ljubljana Airport and airports outside the EU-27. The share of passengers within the EU-27 decreased by 12 percentage points compared to the preious year.
In comparison with 2020, goods traffic increased by 8% to 11,408 tonnes. 97% of goods were transported with scheduled flights.
Airport goods traffic was affected much less by the COVID-19 epidemic than airport passenger traffic.
