The number of persons continues to grow
In March 2022, there were about 915,400 persons in employment, which was more than in the previous month. In 2021, the employment rate was 66.7%.
Number of persons in employment higher than in the previous month
Compared to February 2022, the number of persons in employment increased by about 2,800 (to around 915,400). Compared to March 2021, it was higher by 2.7%. At the monthly level, the number of persons in employment and self-employed persons increased, both by 0.3% (the former to more than 818,400 and the latter to more than 96,900). At the annual level, the number of both also increased.
In the first quarter of 2022 also higher than in the same period of 2021
Quarterly data show that the number of persons in employment in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the fourth quarter of 2021 decreased by 0.2%, whereby the number of men in employment went down by 0.4%, while the number of women in employment went up by 0.1%. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of persons in employment in the first quarter of 2022 increased by 3.0% (or by about 26,300).
Employment rate also higher than in the previous year
The employment rate (i.e. percent of employed within the working age population) increased by 1.1 percentage points in 2021 compared to 2020; it stood at 66.7% and was the highest since we started to calculate it. It increased among men and women, i.e. by 1.2 percentage points for men (to 70.3%) and by 1.0 percentage point for women (to 62.8%).
In 2021, the employment rate was the highest in the municipality of Kranjska Gora (75.9%), and in this municipality it also increased the most compared to the previous year (by 13.9 percentage points). In addition, it increased in 196 municipalities, remained the same in 3 and decreased in 12; i.e. the most in the municipality of Središče ob Dravi (by 3.3 percentage points to 69.2%). As in 2020, the employment rate was the lowest in the municipality of Kuzma (35.9%).
Compared to the previous year, the employment rate increased in all statistical regions, the most in Savinjska (by 1.8 percentage points to 68.4%) and increased the least in Osrednjeslovenska (by 0.6 of a percentage point to 67.9%). The employment rate was the highest in the Primorsko-Notranjska statistical region (71.0%) and the lowest in the Pomurska statistical region (58.9%).
