According to provisional data for June 2022, 1,509 children were born and 1,602 people died.
Fewer live births
1,509 children were born (35 fewer than in June 2021). On average 50 children were born per day (one less than a year before).
Fewer deaths
1,602 people died. This is 91 (5%) fewer than in June 2021 and 97 (6%) fewer than in May 2022. On average 53 people died per day (56 a year earlier).
Excess mortality (i.e. excess number of deaths compared to the average number of deaths in June in 2015–2019) was 9.6%.
What do data for July show us?
According to the first estimate, 903 people died between 1 and 17 July 2022. In the same period of 2021, 853 people died.
