More waste per capita (excluding major mineral wastes) generated than in the previous year

More than a tonne and a half of waste (excluding major mineral wastes) per capita was generated in Slovenia last year. Compared to the previous year, 20 kg less waste per capita was treated and the recycling rate of all waste (excluding major mineral wastes) was 3 percentage points higher.

Almost a tenth more waste per capita (excluding mineral waste) generated
 
In 2021, 1,541 kg of all waste (excluding major mineral wastes) per capita was generated in Slovenia, which is 111 kg more than in the previous year, but 450 kg less than in 2011. 1,284 kg of waste per capita was treated – 2% less than in 2020 and almost 23% less than in 2011.

Growth of recycling rate for municipal waste continues
 
The recycling rate of municipal waste was 60%, which is 1 percentage point more than in the previous year. Compared to 2011, when it was just 36%, the recycling rate of municipal waste increased by almost 25 percentage points.

Higher recycling rate of all waste (excluding major mineral wastes)

The recycling rate of all waste (excluding major mineral wastes) was almost 86% in 2021. This is 3 percentage points more than in the previous year and 14 percentage points more than in 2011. The landfill rate of all waste treated (excluding major mineral wastes) was almost 5%, i.e. almost the same as in the previous year and 14 percentage points lower than a decade earlier, when it was 19%.
