Producer prices in a downward trend
Producer prices of industrial products decreased for the fourth month in a row in July, this time by 0.2%. Nevertheless, they were still 4.1% higher than in the same month of last year.

Producer prices fell for the fourth consecutive month, this time by 0.2%. The prices of products for sale on non-domestic markets went down by 0.6%; the prices of products for sale on euro area markets decreased by 0.4% and on non-euro area markets by 1.0%. On the other hand, the prices of products for sale on the domestic market increased by 0.2%.
The prices of energy went down by 0.9% and of intermediate goods by 0.8%. The prices of capital goods went up by 0.7% and of consumer goods by 0.4%.
Prices decreased the most in manufacture of coke and petroleum products (by 8.2%), followed by manufacture of basic metals (by 2.2%), manufacture of leather and leather products (by 1.5%), manufacture of wearing apparel (by 1.1%) and manufacture of rubber and plastic products (by 1.1%). On the other hand, they increased the most in manufacture of beverages (by 2.2%), followed by water collection, treatment and supply (by 1.1%) and manufacture of furniture (also by 1.1%).

Compared to last July, producer prices increased by 4.1%. The prices of products for sale on the domestic market went up by 6.8% and on non-domestic markets by 1.4%. Of the latter, the prices of products for sale on the markets of euro area were higher by 0.7% and on non-euro area markets by 2.4%.
The prices of energy increased by 17.2%, of consumer goods by 7.7%, of capital goods by 4.2% and of intermediate goods by 0.4%.
Prices grew the most in electricity (by 25.4%), followed by manufacture of wearing apparel (by 17.9%), manufacture of beverages (by 17.4%), manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (by 9.8%) and mining and quarrying (9.0%). On the other hand, the largest decrease was in manufacture of basic metals (by 12.9%), followed by manufacture of coke and petroleum products (by 9.8%), manufacture of computer and optical products (by 2.6%) and manufacture of leather and leather products (also by 2.6%).
