… and also fewer job vacancies

Demand for new labour remained at a high level in the 3rd quarter, but it decreased slightly compared to the previous quarter. 22,200 job vacancies were recorded, which was 5% fewer at the quarterly level. The greatest demand was in construction, where employers were looking for almost 4,400 new employees, followed by manufacturing with 4,300 job vacancies.

The year-on-year comparison shows a 11% decrease in demand for new jobs, which means almost 2,800 fewer vacancies.

Lower job vacancy rate

It remained at a rather high level in administrative and support service activities at 5.6%, although it decreased the most in this activity (by one percentage point less than in the previous quarter).

Where is Slovenia ranked compared to other EU Member States?

Eurostat published the latest available data for the 2nd quarter of 2023 as original data, i.e. not seasonally adjusted. Comparable data, which includes all fields of activity (B to S) and all business entities with at least one employee, is available for 25 Member States. The job vacancy rate was the highest in the Netherlands (4.7%), followed by Belgium (4.6%). Among 25 Member States Slovenia was ranked seventh with 2.9% job vacancy rate. At the bottom of the scale was Bulgaria with 0.8%.
