Consumer confidence slightly up
The value of the consumer confidence indicator in August was 1 percentage point higher than in the previous month.
At the monthly level slightly up
The consumer confidence indicator improved by 1 percentage point (p.p.) compared to July.
Among its components, opinions on current households’ finances and expectations about households’ finances improved (by 4 and 1 p.p., respectively). Expectations for major purchases deteriorated (by 3 p.p.), while consumer expectations about the country’s economy remained at the level of the previous month.
Improvement also at the annual level
Compared to last year’s August, the value of the consumer confidence indicator was 10 p.p. higher, and was 9 p.p. above last year’s average.
All four components of the consumer confidence indicator improved at the annual level: expectations about the country’s economy by 13 p.p., opinions on current households’ finances by 12 p.p., expectations about households’ finances also by 12 p.p., and expectations for major purchases by 1 p.p.

METHODOLOGICAL NOTE
Data are seasonally adjusted. 14 August 2023 is also taken into account as a day off.
Time series models were carefully revised and, if necessary, changed. The period from January 2010 was taken into account. Due to changes, larger revisions in seasonal adjustment results are possible.
The data are based on the Consumer Survey, which was answered by 768 persons between 1 and 18 August 2024.
