Consumer sentiment at the monthly level the same
Consumer sentiment remained unchanged at the monthly level, but improved at the annual level.
Consumer sentiment the same as in the previous month
Compared to April, the value of the consumer confidence indicator remained at the same level, while compared to the long-term average it was 3 percentage points (p.p.) lower.
Among the indicator’s components, expectations about households’ finances and expectations about the country’s economy increased (by 3 and 1 p.p., respectively). On the other hand, the indicator was offset by lower expectations for major purchases and opinions on current households’ finances (both down by 2 p.p.).
Improvement at the annual level
Compared to last year’s May, the value of the consumer confidence indicator was 4 p.p. higher, and was 7 p.p. above last year’s average.
All four components of the consumer confidence indicator improved at the annual level: expectations about households’ finances by 6 p.p., opinions on current households’ finances by 5 p.p., expectations for major purchases by 3 p.p., and expectations about the country’s economy by 1 p.p.
