More SMSs than calls
In the last quarter of the last year, fewer phone calls were made from both fixed and mobile networks than the year before. On an annual basis, fixed and mobile outgoing traffic as well as the number of SMS messages also decreased.

Compared to the 4th quarter of 2023, we recorded:
Private users preferred to write an SMS message than to call
In the 4th quarter of 2024, over 465 million outgoing calls from the mobile network were made and almost 497 million SMS messages were sent. This means a mobile network user on average used their mobile phone for sending an SMS message (179 times) more often than for making a call (168 times). Regarding to the status of user, the difference was even greater among private users, while business users, on the contrary, performed more calls than sent SMS messages.
Internet accessed the most via fibre optic connections
Taking into account the new definition of fixed wireless access valid since the 2nd quarter 2024, at the end of the 4th quarter of 2024, over 725,000 Internet connections were used in Slovenia. Of these, 57% were fibre optic access connections, 23% cable modem connections, 12% xDSL connections and 8% other broadband connections, including fixed wireless access.

- 8% fewer outgoing telephone calls from fixed network and
- 2% fewer from mobile network,
- 10% less outgoing fixed telephone traffic and
- 1% less mobile traffic,
- 5% fewer SMSs sent.
