In February 2025, less net electricity was generated than in February 2024

Compared to the same month last year, electricity production decreased in January, but energy supply increased.

Total net electricity generation and export lower than a year ago, import higher

In February 2025, total net electricity generation was 1,168 GWh. Compared to January, it decreased by 8%, and compared to February 2024 it decreased by 9%. Compared to the same month last year, generation in hydro power plants was 30% lower, in thermal power plants it was 2% higher, in solar and wind power plants it increased by 17% and in the nuclear power plant it was 3% lower.

In line with the higher production in thermal power plants, fuel consumption also increased. Total fuel consumption was 7% higher than a year ago.

883 GWh of electricity was imported and 843 GWh was exported. Compared to the same month last year, import increased by 6% and export decreased by 15%.

Less electricity consumed than in the previous month

In February, households consumed 321 GWh and business entities 592 GWh of electricity. With 297 GWh consumed, manufacturing dominated. Compared to the previous month, electricity consumption in households went down by 10% and in business entities by 5%.

Energy supply down at the monthly and up at the annual level

Compared to January, the supply of energy commodities in general went down: of Hard Coal by 16%, of Natural Gas by 11%, of Heating and Other Gasoil by 8%, of Transport Diesel Oil by 6%, and of Lignite and Brown Coal by 3%. On the other hand, the supply of LPG went up by 17%, of Motor Gasoline by 7%, of Kerosene Jet Fuel by 4%, and of Other Petroleum Products by 1%.

Compared to last February, the supply of energy commodities increased: of Other Petroleum Products by 88%, of Motor Gasoline by 34%, of Kerosene Jet Fuel by 31%, of LPG by 21%, of Natural Gas by 15%, of Heating and Other Gasoil by 12%, and of Hard Coal by 6%.
