Trade in goods in July 2018 higher than in July 2017

In the January-July 2018 period Slovenian exports and imports each increased by 11.6% over the same period of 2017.

Exports and imports in July 2018 higher than in July 2017

Slovenia’s exports in July 2018 were 16.3% higher than in July 2017 (amounting to EUR 2.7 billion), while imports were 15.2% higher (amounting to EUR 2.6 billion). The value of both exports and imports in July 2018 also increased compared to average values of monthly exports and imports in the past year (exports by 15.4% and imports by 12.0%).

In this year, the external trade surplus was the highest in July when it amounted to EUR 141.4 million. Most of that surplus can be attributed to the surplus in trade with EU non-member countries (EUR 87.6 million). The export/import ratio in July 2018 was 105.5%.

Trade in goods with EU Member States in July 2018 higher than in July 2017

In July 2018 Slovenia generated 77.2% of all exports and 79.4% of all imports in trade with the EU Member States. The value of goods exported to EU Member States in July 2018 amounted to EUR 2.1 billion and of goods imported from EU Member States to EUR 2.0 billion (this means a surplus in trade with the EU Member States of EUR 53.8 million). Exports to EU Member States in July 2018 thus increased by 16.8% and imports by 15.2% compared to July 2017.

The value of goods exported to EU non-member countries in July 2018 amounted to EUR 619.7 million and of goods imported from EU non-member countries to EUR 532.1 million. Exports to EU non-member countries in July 2018 thus increased by 14.7% and imports by 15.2% compared to July 2017. The growth of imports from EU non-member countries was thus the same as the growth of imports from EU Member States.

Exports and imports in the first seven months of 2018 higher than in the same period of 2017

In the first seven months of 2018 Slovenia exported and imported 11.6% more goods than in the same period of 2017. In the mentioned period Slovenia's exports amounted to EUR 18.1 billion and imports to EUR 17.7 billion. The external trade surplus in the first seven months of 2018 was EUR 477.6 million and the export/import ratio was 102.7%.
