The rate of digitization of enterprises with at least 10 persons employed in 2018
In 2018, 42% of enterprises in Slovenia have a low, 32% a very low, 23% a high and 3% a very high digital intensity index. The index is calculated on the basis of 12 indicators used to monitor the ICT usage in enterprises.
The purpose of digitization is to connect individual business processes
in the enterprises – from paperless business, automation of processes to
connecting systems and devices. The rate of digitization of enterprises with at
least 10 persons employed is monitored by the digital intensity index, which
consists of 12 indicators used to monitor the use of ICT in enterprises in an
individual year. According to the number of elements they meet, enterprises are
classified into four groups: enterprises with very low, low, high and very high
digital intensity index.
Most enterprises have a low
digital intensity index
In 2018 most enterprises with at least 10
persons employed have a low digital intensity index (42%); 32% of enterprises have
a very low, 23% a high and 3% a very high digital intensity index.
As regards the enterprise
size (number of persons employed), most of the small enterprises have a low
digital intensity index (41%), most of the medium-sized enterprises have a low
digital intensity index (46%), while most of the large enterprises have a high
digital intensity index (49%).

Enterprises in which more
than half of persons employed use computers with Internet access for business
purposes
In
46% of enterprises with at least 10 persons employed more than 50% of persons
employed use computers with Internet access for business purposes.
As
regards the enterprise size, the share is the highest among small enterprises;
in 47% of those enterprises more than 50% of persons employed use computers
with Internet access for business purposes. The share in medium-sized
enterprises and large enterprises is 43%.
Enterprises employing ICT
specialists
20%
of enterprises employ ICT specialists; 14% of small, 42% of medium-sized and
84% of large enterprises.
8% of enterprises recruited
or tried to recruit ICT specialist in 2017. Of those 65% had vacancies for ICT
specialists that were difficult to fill.
Maximum contracted download
speed of the fastest fixed Internet connection is at least 30 Mbit/s
40% of enterprises had
maximum contracted downloaded speed of the fastest fixed Internet connection at
least 30 Mbit/s.
Most enterprises (36%) have
maximum contracted download speed of the fastest fixed Internet connection at
least 10 but less than 30 Mbit/s. 21% of enterprises have this speed at least
30 but less than 100 Mbit/s and 19% of enterprises at least 100 Mbit/s.
Enterprises provided more
than 20% of the persons employed with a portable device that allows a mobile
connection to the Internet for business use
42%
of enterprises provided more than a fifth of their persons employed with a
portable device that allows a mobile connection to the Internet.
79% of enterprises provided
to their persons employed a portable device that allows a mobile connection to
the Internet, e.g. laptop or tablet computer or mobile phone. Enterprises provided portable devices
that allow a mobile connection to the Internet to 23% of their persons
employed.
Enterprises have a website

with either their own website or on the website of the mother enterprise; 81% of
small, 95% of medium-sized and all large enterprises.
Enterprise website provides

one of the following functionalities on the website: provide description of
goods or services, price lists on the website (81%), make it possible for
visitors to customise or design online goods or services (4%), enable tracking the
status of orders placed on the website (6%), and provide personalised content
on the website for regular or recurrent visitors (3%).

34% of enterprises have a
website with links or references to the enterprise social media profiles, e.g.
Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter; 31% of small, 42% of medium-sized and
67% of large enterprises.
Enterprises purchase medium
or high cloud computing services
17% of enterprises purchase
medium or high cloud computing services, i.e. at least one of the following
services: hosting the enterprise database (10%), finance or accounting software
applications (9%), customer relationship management (CRM) (5%) and computing
power to run enterprise's own software (7%).
Enterprises were sending
e-invoices for automated processing to other enterprises or public authorities
in the previous year
In
2017, 62% of enterprises were sending invoices in standard structure suitable
for automated processing (e-invoices) in the previous year.
Of
all the invoices they sent in 2017, the majority of enterprises (70%) sent out less
than 10% as e-invoices; 14% sent at least 10% but less than 25% e-invoices, 9%
at least 25% but less than 50%, 4% at least 50% but less than 75% and 3% at
least 75% of all invoices as e-invoices.
93%
of enterprises sent e-invoices to public authorities, 47% to other enterprises
and 7% to private consumers.
Enterprises pay to advertise
on the Internet
22%
of enterprises in Slovenia pay to advertise on the Internet, e.g.
advertisements on search engines, on social media (Facebook, Google, YouTube,
etc.) or on other websites. As regards the enterprise size, 21% of small, 22% of
medium-sized and 40% of large enterprises.
20%
of enterprises use the method of targeted advertising that is based on webpages
content or on keywords searched by users (contextual advertising), and 7% the method
that is based on the tracking of Internet users’ past activities or profile
(targeted advertising) and based on the geolocation of Internet users
(location-based advertising). One percent of enterprises use other methods of
targeted advertising on the Internet.
Enterprises generated at
least 1% of their turnover in the previous year via computer networks – with
orders via websites or via electronic data interchange (EDI)
In
2017, 18% of enterprises generated at least 1% of their turnover with orders
via computer networks (website or EDI-type messages).
25%
of enterprises generated part of their turnover via computer networks; 21% via
website (own or e-commerce market places) and 6% via electronic data
interchange. Enterprises generated via computer networks 17.5% of their
turnover (excluding VAT) in 2017.
Enterprises generated more

In 2017, 7% of enterprises
generated more than 1% of their turnover in the previous year with web sales
and at the same time web sales to private customers represented more than 10%
of their web sales.
