Average gross earnings for December 2019 2.2% lower than earnings for the previous month

Average gross earnings for December 2019 amounted to EUR 1,855.25 and were lower than earnings for November 2019; in nominal terms by 2.2% and in real terms by 2.0%. Average monthly gross earnings for 2019 were higher than earnings for 2018; in nominal terms by 4.3% and in real terms by 2.7%.

Average earnings for December 2019 lower than earnings for November 2019 mostly due to the lower share of extra payments
Average gross earnings for December 2019 amounted to EUR 1,855.25. Compared to gross earnings for November 2019 they were lower in nominal terms by 2.2% and in real terms by 2.0%. Average net earnings for December 2019 amounted to EUR 1,214.93. Compared to net earnings for November 2019 they were lower in nominal terms by 1.6% and in real terms by 1.4%.

The decrease in average earnings for December 2019 (compared to average earnings for November 2019) was mainly due to fewer extra payments (13th month payments and Christmas bonuses) paid with earnings for December.

Average monthly gross earnings for 2019 amounted to EUR 1,753.84. Compared to average monthly gross earnings for 2018 they were higher in nominal terms by 4.3% and in real terms by 2.7%. Average monthly net earnings for 2019 amounted to EUR 1,133.50. Compared to average monthly net earnings for 2018 they were higher in nominal terms by 3.7% and in real terms by 2.1%.

Compared to earnings for 2018, average monthly gross earnings for 2019 increased in both sectors: in the private sector by 3.9% and in the public sector by 5.4% (in the institutional sector general government they went up by 6.5%). Such a high increase in the public sector and in the institutional sector general government over the previous year was largely the result of higher earnings of public sector employees as a result of the Agreement on Salaries and Other Payments of Labour Costs in the Public Sector.

Average monthly earnings for 2019 the highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply
On average the highest monthly gross earnings for 2019 were paid in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (they amounted to EUR 2,628.55).

Average monthly gross earnings for 2019 increased in all activities (compared to earnings for 2018); they increased the most in public administration and defence, compulsory social security (by 8.9%).

Average monthly gross earnings for 2019 were higher than the national average only in two statistical regions
Average monthly gross earnings for 2019 were higher than the national average only in the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region (by 10.3%) and in the statistical region Jugovzhodna Slovenija (by 0.9%).
