In June 2021 more persons in employment compared to the previous month

In June 2021 there were in Slovenia about 901,700 persons in employment or by 0.5% more on a monthly level (i.e. by about 4,700), while on annual level there were 2.0% more. More persons in employment than in June 2021 were recorded in November 2019 (there were by about 50 more persons in employment).

On a monthly basis, in June 2021 the number of persons in paid employment increased by 0.5% (to more than 805,800), while the number of self-employed persons increased by 0.4% (to more than 95,800). Compared to the same month of the last year, in June 2021 the number of persons in paid employment and of self-employed persons increased by 2.0%.

Compared to May 2021, in June 2021 the number of men and women in employment increased by about 0.5% (of the former by about 2,700 to more than 495,000 and of the latter by more than 2,000 to about 406,600). Compared to June 2020, in June 2021 the number of persons in employment increased ina case of both genders, i.e. for men by 1.9% and for women by 2.1%.

In the second quarter of 2021, 1.3% more persons in employment compared to the previous quarter

The quarterly data indicate that in comparison with the first quarter of 2021, in the second quarter of 2021 the number of persons in employment increased by 1.3%; of these the number of persons in paid employment increased by 1.3% and the number of self-employed by 0.8%.

In the first six months of 2021 there were on average about 891,800 persons in employment or by 0.1% more compared to the same period of 2020. Compared to the average of the first six months of 2020, in the first half of 2021 the number of persons in paid employment increased only slightly and the number of self-employed persons increased by 1.0%.

Compared to the average of the first six months of 2020, in 2021 the number of persons in employment increased the most in health and social work (by 5.0%) and decreased the most in accommodation and food service activities (by 8.0%). In half of the activities the number increased and in half it decreased.

In June 2021 in almost all activities, the number of persons in employment increased on a monthly basis 

Compared to May 2021, in June 2021 the number of persons in employment decreased in four and increased in sixteen activities. At the monthly level, the number of persons in employment decreased the most in education, i.e. by more than 100 (to about 76,000) and increased the most in accommodation and food service activities (by 4.0% to more than 34,800). The number of persons in employment in the accommodation and food service activities is rising for the fourth month in a row (from March 2021 to June 2021 it increased by 9.3%). Compared to the same period of the last year, in June 2021 there were more persons in employment in education (by 2.4%) and less in accommodation and food service activities (by 0.7%). Compared to all persons in employment in Slovenia, in June 2021 the percentage of persons in employment in education activity was 8.4%, and in accommodation and food service activities it was 3.9%.
