Fewer deaths and almost the same number of live births
Compared to the same month of 2024, the number of live births was almost the same and the number of deaths went down by 14%. A natural decrease was recorded: according to provisional data, 519 more people died than were born. On average 44 children were born per day and 63 people died.

In the second month of this year, 1,232 children were born in Slovenia, which was 6 or 0.5% more than in February 2024. On average 44 children were born per day (compared to 42 in the same month of 2024).

In the observed month, 1,751 residents of Slovenia died. This was 279 (14%) fewer than in February last year. On average 63 people died each day (seven fewer than in February 2024).
What do data for March 2025 indicate?
According to the first estimate, 1,058 residents of Slovenia died between 1 and 16 March 2025. In the same period of last year, the number was lower (969 residents).
