12 statistical regions, 212 municipalities, 6,035 settlements
In the last release on the territorial units and house numbers we inform you that the number of statistical regions, municipalities and settlements did not change in the second half of 2018. These data are disseminated in more details by the Surveying and Mapping Authority.
Register of Spatial Units as of 1 January 2019
On 1 January 2019 there were 12 statistical regions1), 212 municipalities, 6,035 settlements, 10,402 streets and 559,243 house numbers registered in the Register of Spatial Units, which is kept by the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia. As regards the area, municipality Kočevje was the largest with 555 km2 and municipality Odranci the smallest with 7 km2. As regards the number of settlements, municipality Krško ranked first with 158 settlements, while municipalities Ankaran, Kobilje, Odranci and Trzin each had only one settlement.

This is the last release on the territorial units and house numbers. The source of these data is the Register of Spatial Units, maintained by the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia, which is also responsible for disseminating them. SURS will continue to publish some data on changes in areas and borders of territorial units as the institution maintaining the Standard Classification of Territorial Units and the NUTS Regulation. 1) The Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia also disseminates data by statistical regions, which are, at a higher level, combined into the so-called "cohesion regions", namely Vzhodna Slovenija and Zahodna Slovenija. Cohesion region Vzhodna Slovenija includes 8 statistical regions (Pomurska, Podravska, Koroška, Savinjska, Zasavska, Posavska, Jugovzhodna Slovenija and Primorsko-notranjska), while cohesion region Zahodna Slovenija includes 4 statistical regions (Osrednjeslovenska, Gorenjska, Goriška and Obalno-kraška).
