Sentiment indicator remains stable
At the beginning of the year, the sentiment indicator was at same level as in December, but slightly higher compared to previous January.
Unchanged at the monthly level
The value of the sentiment indicator was at −2.6 percentage points (p.p.) in January, the same as in the previous month. The movement of the indicator was generally stable in 2024, without major deviations and below the long-term average.
The sentiment was positively influenced by the confidence indicators in services (by 0.3 p.p.) and manufacturing (by 0.1 p.p.). Confidence indicators among consumers (by 0.3 p.p.) and in retail trade (by 0.1 p.p.) had a negative impact, while the confidence indicator in construction had no impact.
Slightly up year-on-year
Compared to previous January, the value of the sentiment indicator was higher by 0.4 p.p.
The improvement of the indicator was influenced by the confidence indicators in services (by 0.7 p.p.), retail trade (by 0.2 p.p.) and manufacturing (by 0.1 p.). On the other hand, confidence indicators in construction (by 0.4 p.p.) and among consumers (by 0.1 p.p.) had a negative impact.
