Monthly number of registrations up, of bankruptcies down
The number of registrations went up monthly by 1.3% and of bankruptcies down by 25.0%. Quarterly, the number of bankruptcies decreased the most in construction and increased the most in industry as well as in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.
Quarterly, the number of registrations up the most in information and communication
In December, the number of registrations increased compared to November and to the average of 2021 (by 1.3% and 8.8%, respectively). On the other hand, it was 1.7% lower than in the 4th quarter of 2023.
In the last quarter of 2024, the number of registrations increased by 0.4% compared to the previous quarter and by 8.1% compared to the 2021 average. The number, however, decreased compared to the last quarter of 2023 by 3.4%.
In comparison to the 3rd quarter of 2024 and the last quarter of 2023, the number grew the most in information and communication (by 17.1% and 26.2%). In comparison to the 2021 average, it went up the most in education, health, social work, arts and other service activities except activities of membership organisations (by 19.4%), followed by accommodation and food service activities (by 18.4%) and information and communication (by 18.2%).
In comparison with the 3rd quarter of 2024, the number decreased the most in accommodation and food service activities (by 5.9%) and construction (by 5.2%), and in comparison with the last quarter of 2023 in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (by 9.7%) and construction (also by 9.7%), followed by transportation and storage (by 9.2%). Compared to the 2021 average, it declined the most in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles and construction (by 7.8%) and in industry (by 6.0%).
In all monthly comparisons bankruptcies down, yet quarterly up
In December, the number of bankruptcies decreased at all levels: compared to November by 25.0%, compared to December 2023 by 5.3% and compared to the 2021 average by 13.7%.
In the last quarter of 2024, the number increased in all comparisons: compared to the previous quarter by 15.4%, compared to the same quarter of 2023 by 26.7% and compared to the 2021 average by 2.7%.
In comparison with the 3rd quarter 2024, the number went up the most in industry (by 55.0%) and wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (also by 55.0%), and compared to the 2021 average in transportation and storage (by 40.3%).
In comparison with the last quarter of 2023, the number increased in all observed activities except in education, health, social work, arts and other service activities, where it decreased by 28.6%.
