The downward trend continues

In September, the sentiment indicator was 4.5 percentage points lower than in the previous month and thus fell below the long-term average.

Lower at the monthly level …

In September 2022, the value of the sentiment indicator (at −5.0 percentage points – p.p.) decreased by 4.5 p.p. compared to August 2022 (at −0.5 p.p.) and was 4.1 p.p. below the long-term average.

The decrease was influenced by all five components: the most in manufacturing (by 2.5 p.p.) and services (by 1.3 p.p.) and slightly less in retail trade (by 0.3 p.p.), among consumers (by 0.3 p.p.) and in construction (by 0.2 p.p.).

… and at the annual level

Compared to September 2021, when it was above the long-term average, the value was lower by 10.3 p.p.

This decrease was influenced by the lower values of four out of five indicators: the most in manufacturing (by 6.3 p.p.) and among consumers (by 3.8 p.p.) and less in construction (by 0.5 p.p.) and services (by 0.1 p.p.). On the other hand, the confidence indicator in retail trade had a positive impact (by 0.4 p.p.).
