Mobile network users called more and wrote more messages
At the end of the 1st quarter of 2022, there were more mobile network users. They made more outgoing calls from all mobile networks than a year ago. They made less telephone traffic but sent more SMSs and MMSs.
The number of business mobile network subscribers grew the most
At the end of the 1st quarter of 2022, the number of mobile network users in Slovenia exceeded 2,613,000. In one year, it went up by 2%. The number of subscribers as well as prepaid users increased. The number of business subscribers increased the most, namely by 5%.
Outgoing telephone calls increased from all mobile networks
Almost 475 million outgoing calls from Slovene mobile networks were recorded. This was 1% more than in the 1st quarter of 2021. National outgoing mobile calls increased by 1% as well and increased in all networks. The number of international calls increased by 12%.
Less outgoing national and international mobile telephone traffic
In the 1st quarter of 2022, about 23 million hours of total outgoing traffic from Slovene mobile networks were recorded. Outgoing mobile traffic decreased by 6% over the previous year. At the annual level, national outgoing mobile traffic decreased by 6% and international by 5%. In one year, outgoing mobile traffic decreased for both types of users and in all types of networks.
The growth of SMSs and MMSs sent by business users higher than by private ones
About 577 million SMS messages were sent, 7% more than in the 1st quarter of 2021. Private users sent 5% more and business users 15% more. In addition, almost 29 million MMS messages were sent or 4% more. Most SMS and MMS messages were sent by private users (78% and 77%, respectively).
Data transfer on mobile broadband still continues to grow considerably
Almost 71 million gigabytes of data were transferred on mobile broadband. Data transfer via Wi-Fi wireless technology is not included. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2021, data transfer increased by 27%.
Half of users access the Internet via optical fiber
At the end of the 1st quarter of 2022, there were almost 675,000 broadband Internet connections in Slovenia. In one year, the total number of broadband Internet connections increased by 3%. Of these, the number of optical fiber access connections, which account for half of all broadband connections, increased by 12%. The number of cable modem connections decreased by 2% at the annual level and the number of xDSL connections by 10%.
