This time fewer job vacancies

In the 3rd quarter of 2022, almost 25,300 job vacancies were recorded, which is 3.5% less than in the previous quarter. After a year and a half of constant growth, the number of vacant posts decline this time. This has not yet affected to the number of occupied posts, as they are still increasing. Demand at the level of Slovenia still remains at a high level, as employers publish about 7,000 more vacancies every quarter than before the COVID-19 crisis (i.e. in the last quarter of 2019). As far as the actual cooling of demand is concerned, the data collected in the next quarter will show. This kind of data is the first indicator of changes in the labor market, and employers react quickly with a reduced demand for new labor.

The annual comparison of the data, i.e. those of the 3rd quarter of 2022 with the same period the year before, shows an increase in demand for new jobs by one-tenth, which means around 2,600 more vacancies. Year-on-year growth was most significant in construction, where 1,130 job vacancies more were recorded. The demand for new labour force was higher in all fields of activity except in, manufacturing and other service activities.

Number of occupied posts increasing

The number of occupied posts increased by 16,700 compared to the year before. A constant upward trend in vacancies has been recorded since the 2nd quarter of 2014, with the exception of the 2nd quarter of 2020, when the COVID-19 epidemic began. Compared to the previous quarter, there were almost 2,900 occupied posts more. The number of occupied posts increased the most in construction (by 1,100 more) and in human health and social work activities (by about 450 more).

Job vacancy rate remains above the three percent mark in Slovenia

In the 1st quarter of this year, the job vacancy rate in Slovenia reached 3% for the first time. In the observed quarter was 3.1%. However compared to the previous quarter, it decreased by a tenth of a percentage point. Compared to the same quarter of last year, it went up by 0.3 of a percentage point. A more detailed review at fields of activity shows that the highest job vacancy rate was this time in construction 7.4%, exactly the same was also in accommodation and food service activities.
