Average earnings higher than earnings for September
Average gross earnings for October were higher than earnings for September, in nominal terms by 1.9% and in real terms by 1.1%.

Average gross earnings for October 2022 amounted to EUR 2,024.03. Compared to earnings for September, they were higher in nominal terms by 1.9% and in real terms by 1.1%. Average net earnings amounted to EUR 1,317.60. Compared to earnings for September, they were higher in nominal terms by 1.7% and in real terms by 0.9%.
Compared to earnings for October of the previous year, they were higher in nominal terms (gross earnings by 7.3%, net earnings by 8.1%) and lower in real terms (gross earnings by 2.4%, net earnings by 1.6%).
Earnings increased more in the public sector
Compared to earnings for September, average gross earnings increased in both sectors; in the private sector by 0.8% and in the public sector by 3.8% (in the institutional sector general government they went up by 5.7%). The growth of earnings in the public sector and in the institutional sector general government, which is part of the public sector, is mainly the result of the increase in the value of salary grades (from 1 October 2022), within the framework of the Agreement Regulating Measures Relating to Salaries and Other Labour Costs in the Public Sector for 2022 and 2023.
The highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply
Average gross earnings were the highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (EUR 2,863.56), although in these activities they decreased the most (by 12.2%; mainly due to lower extra payments) compared to gross earnings for September. They increased the most in human health and social work activities (by 7.2%).
