Production up in both services and trade
In September 2023, production increased at the monthly level in both trade and services. Among the latter, it went up the most in accommodation and food service activities and down the most in professional, scientific and technical activities.
At the monthly level, the largest increase in accommodation and food service activities
Service and trade production went up by 0.8% over the previous month: in service activities by 0.8% and in trade by 0.1%.
Among service activities, production increased in accommodation and food service activities (by 5.0%), followed by administrative and support service activities (by 3.0%), and transportation and storage (by 2.4%). It decreased in professional, scientific and technical activities (by 3.8%), followed by real estate activities (by 1.6%), while in information and communication it remained the same as in the previous month.
At the annual level, decrease in trade
Compared to previous September, service and trade production declined by 2.3%. In trade it went down by 6.6%, while in service activities it grew by 0.2%.
Among service activities, the decline was the largest in transportation and storage (by 8.2%), followed by real estate activities (by 5.0%). On the other hand, production increased the most in accommodation and food service activities (by 13.0%), followed by administrative and support service activities (by 6.5%), professional, scientific and technical activities (by 2.1%) and information and communication (by 0.1%).
In the first nine months of the year, service and trade production went down by 0.6% compared to the same period of the previous year. In service activities, it grew by 1.6%, while in trade it declined by 4.2%. It increased in five out of six groups of service activities, the most in accommodation and food service activities (by 8.9%). It decreased only in transportation and storage (by 5.7%).
