Consumer confidence slightly lower
In July, the consumer confidence indicator deteriorated at the monthly level by 1 percentage point.
Slightly lower at the monthly level …
The value of the consumer confidence indicator decreased by 1 percentage point (p.p.) compared to June.
The monthly decrease in the confidence indicator resulted from more pessimistic consumer expectations about the country’s economy (by 4 p.p.) and opinions on current households’ finances (by 3 p.p.). On the other hand, expectations about major purchases slightly improved (by 2 p.p.), while expectations about households’ finances remained at the level of the previous month.
… but higher at the annual level
Compared to last year’s July, the value of the consumer confidence indicator was 8 p.p. higher, and was 9 p.p. above last year’s average.
All four components of the consumer confidence indicator improved at the annual level: expectations about the country’s economy by 10 p.p., about households’ finances by 9 p.p., opinions on current households’ finances by 8 p.p., and expectations for major purchases by 7 p.p.
Consumers’ intentions up for home purchase
Compared to the previous quarter, consumers’ expectations about home purchase improved (by 4 p.p.), while expectations about home improvements and car purchase deteriorated (both by 1 p.p.).
