Fewer outgoing calls, telephone traffic and messages sent

In the observed quarter, the number of mobile network users and data transfer increased. On the other hand, the number of messages sent and outgoing calls decreased and so did telephone traffic.

Key statistics

Compared to the 4^th quarter 2022, we recorded:

a third more data transfer in mobile network,
8% fewer SMSs sent,
2% fewer national outgoing calls from mobile network,
2% less national outgoing mobile telephone traffic,
9% fewer national outgoing calls from fixed network,
13% less national outgoing fixed telephone traffic.

More Internet connections

At the end of the last quarter of 2023, almost 683,000 broadband Internet connections were used in Slovenia or 1% more than the year before. The number of optical fibre access connections increased by 8% and reached a 56% share.

More mobile network users

There were over 2,730,000 mobile network users in Slovenia at the end of 2023. In one year, their number went up by 2%, only due to subscribers, whose number increased by 3%.

Fewer fixed telephone connections

There were fewer than 52,100 classical telephone connections. Compared to the 4^th quarter of 2022, their number decreased by 15%. The number of IP telephony connections went down as well, namely by 3%.

METHODOLOGICAL NOTE

Provisional data for the 4^th quarter of 2023 will become final with the publication of provisional data for the 4^th quarter of 2024 at the end of March 2025. In the final data any potential corrections or revisions that will occur during the year will be included.
