Less meat gained than the month before
About 3,900,000 poultry, 18,200 pigs and 7,700 cattle were slaughtered in Slovenian slaughterhouses in January. In this way, about 7,200 tonnes of poultry meat, 1,700 tonnes of pig meat, and 2,300 tonnes of bovine meat were gained.
At the monthly level increase in poultry, decline in cattle and pigs
Compared to December, the slaughter of poultry went up by about 4% (by about 163,000 animals). On the other hand, the slaughter of cattle went down by about 23% (by about 2,300 animals) and of pigs by about 15% (by about 3,300 animals).
Compared to the previous month, the total amount of meat gained in slaughterhouses was about 5% lower. The total carcass weight of poultry increased by about 5%. On the other hand, the total carcass weight of cattle decreased by 24% and of pigs by about 12%.
