Almost 4.3 million private trips made in 2017
In 2017 around 1,152,000 persons aged 15 years or more went on at least one private trip. During this period they made around 4,288,000 private trips, the most in this decade.
Two-thirds of Slovenian residents went on private trips
In 2017 around 1,152,000 persons or 66% of the total resident population aged 15 years or more went on at least one private trip. They went on around 4,288,000 private trips all together, which is 6% more than in 2016. Two-fifths of all private trips were made in Slovenia, while three-fifths were made abroad. The most visited country was Croatia (64% of all private trips made abroad), followed by Italy (7%), Bosnia and Herzegovina (5%) and Austria (5%).
Private trip participants spent on average a little less than EUR 50 per day
Private trips involved on average 4.5 overnight stays (2.7 overnight stays in Slovenia and 5.6 abroad). Private trip participants spent on average around EUR 46 per person per day (EUR 38 on private trips in Slovenia, EUR 49 on private trips abroad). Tourists staying in a hotel or a similar establishment spent daily on average the most (EUR 85) and tourists staying in their own secondary homes the least (EUR 17).
More than half a million business trips
In 2017 around 197,000 or 11% of the Slovenian residents aged 15 years or more went on at least one business or study trip. They went on around 537,000 business trips all together, which is 4% more than in 2016. 17% of business trips were made in Slovenia, while 83% were made abroad, mostly in Germany (22% of business trips abroad).
Business trip participants spent on average just over EUR 200 per day
Business trips involved on average 2.8 overnight stays (1.9 overnight stays in Slovenia and 3.0 abroad). Business trip participants spent on average around EUR 205 per person per day (EUR 135 on business trips in Slovenia, EUR 214 on business trips abroad).
