Tourist arrivals and overnight stays, Slovenia, December 2019
In December 2019 most foreign tourists in Slovenia from Italy
328,000 tourist arrivals (approximately the same as in December 2018) and almost 798,000 tourist overnight stays (9% fewer than in December 2018) were recorded in tourist accommodation establishments in December 2019.
64% of all overnight stays generated by foreign tourists (510,000)
In December 2019 domestic tourists generated 110,000 arrivals (1% more than in December 2018) and more than 287,000 overnight stays (6% fewer than in December 2018). Foreign tourist generated 218,000 arrivals (approximately the same as in December 2018) and more than 510,000 overnight stays (10% fewer than in December 2018).
Italian tourists prevail also in December
The most overnight stays among foreign tourists were generated by tourists from Italy (26% or almost 134,000), followed by tourists from Austria (11%), Croatia (10%), Germany (6%) and Serbia (5%).
30% of all overnight stays in health (spa) resorts
In December 2019 the highest number of tourist overnight stays was recorded in health (spa) resorts (30% or more than 240,000), followed by mountain resorts (22%), municipality Ljubljana (18%) and seaside resorts (12%).
Almost 60% of all overnight stays in hotels
Hotels were again the first as regards the number of tourist overnight stays (more than 460,000 but 9% fewer than in December 2018). Hotels were again followed by private rooms, apartments and dwellings (18% of all overnight stays or 10% fewer than in December 2018), with apartment settlements coming in third (4% of all overnight stays or 2% fewer than in December 2018).
