A thousand tons of active substances in plant protection products sold in Slovenia in 2019
According to chemical class, most of the active substances sold in Slovenia in 2019 were in inorganic fungicides (453 tons), followed by other fungicides and bactericides (163 tons), other herbicides (118 tons) and fungicides based on carbamates and dithiocarbamates (109 tons).
Quantity of active substances in plant protection products sold in 2019 15% lower than in 2018
About 1,000 tons of active substances in plant protection products were sold in 2019, which is about 15% less than a year before. Total sales were lower than the ten-year average (1,058 tons) by about 5%. In the last ten years this was the lowest amount on record with the exception of 2013.
In 2019 we recorded a drop in the sales of active substances in three main groups of pesticides. Total amount of sold fungicides and bactericides dropped by about 12% compared to 2018. In the groups herbicides and insecticides we recorded 23% and 33% drops, respectively. On the other hand, we recorded a sales increase in the group molluscicides by about 43% and in the group plant growth regulators by about 58%. Sales of other pesticides dropped by about 14%.
752 tons of active substances in fungicides sold in Slovenia in 2019
In total, 752 tons of active substances in fungicides were sold in 2019. Major contributors were inorganic sulphur at 337 tons, dithiocarbamate fungicides at 108 tons and phthalimide fungicides at 96 tons.
118 tons of active substances in herbicides were sold in Slovenia in 2019. Organophosphorus herbicides was the largest group with 85 tons of total amount sold. Unclassified insecticides and acaricides (25 tons) was the most sold group of all insecticides (30 tons). Finally, molluscicides (2 tons), plant growth regulators (8 tons) and other plant protection products (4 tons) are groups that were the least represented among all pesticide groups.
