Removals in 2019 lower than in the previous year

In 2019, the removal in Slovenian forests was about 13% less than in 2018. 5,287,863 m3 of timber was felled, of which 3,326,579 m3 of coniferous trees and 1,961,284 m3 of non-coniferous trees. There was still a lot of wood that had been felled due to damage from the bark beetles, and the wind damage in 2017 and 2018. Thus, sanitary felling amounted to approximately 54% of the total timber removals. The total removals represented 87% of the allowable removals under forest management plans.

Forest covers 58% of Slovenia

Taking into account forest management plans of forest management units (FMU) produced in 2019, the forest area in 2019 in total amounted to 1,176,754 hectares. Forest thus covered 58% of Slovenia.
Compared to the previous year, the growing stock in Slovenian forest increased by 0.4% to 356,745,852  m3. The annual increment increased by 0.3% to 8,827,654  m3
