In December 2020, around 16,100 persons found new jobs
The number of persons in employment in December 2020 increased by 0.2% compared to November 2020 (to more than 891,200). In December around 16,100 persons in paid employment were persons who found new jobs, most of them in manufacturing and construction.

Compared to November 2020, the total number of persons in employment, i.e. persons in paid employment and self-employed persons together, in December 2020 increased by 0.2% or by about 1,500 (to more than 891,200). Only the number of men in employment increased, i.e. by 0.5% or by about 2,700 (to about 491,400), while the number of women in employment decreased by 0.3% (by about 1,200, to more than 399,800). At the annual level, the number of persons in employment in December 2020 was 1.1% or by about 10,300 lower than in December 2019. Both, the number of men in employment (by 1.3% or about 6,200) and the number of women in employment (by 1.0% or about 4,100) decreased.
In December 2020, on a monthly basis the total number of persons in paid employment increased by 0.2% (to more than 796,200). The number of persons in paid employment by legal entities increased by 0.3% (or by about 2,500, to more than 748,300), while the number of persons in paid employment by natural persons decreased by 2.2% or by about 1,100 (to about 47,900). The number of both decreased on an annual basis (the former by 1.1%, the latter by 8.5%).
In December 2020, around 16,100 persons in paid employment were persons who found new jobs, which was 2,000 more than the number of new jobs in December 2019. The most persons found their new jobs in manufacturing (more than 4,800) and in construction (more than 4,700).
In the last five years, the number of persons in employment with tertiary education increased by 22.2%
At the end of 2020, among persons in employment, most had upper secondary education (55.3%). The share of persons in employment with tertiary education is rising, while the share of persons in employment with basic education or less is declining (in December 2020, 35.8% had tertiary education and 8.9% had basic education or less). In the last five years, the number of persons in employment with secondary education increased by 7.7% and those with tertiary education by 22.2%, while the number of persons in employment with basic education or less decreased by 6.6%.
For the third consecutive month the largest decline in the number of persons in employment in accommodation and food service activities
An overview by activities shows that in December 2020, on a monthly basis, the number of persons in employment decreased in thirteen and increased in seven. For the third month in a row, it decreased the most in accommodation and food service activities (this time by 1.5%, to around 32,800). From October 2020 to December 2020, the number of persons in employment in this activity decreased by about 2,000. Despite the largest decrease in the number of persons in employment on a monthly basis, in December 2020, slightly more than 240 persons found new jobs in this activity.
The situation was the opposite in manufacturing, where the number of persons in employment in December 2020 compared to November 2020 increased the most (by 0.9%, to about 204,100). In this activity, we recorded the largest increase in the number of persons in employment for the third month in a row, namely it increased by slightly more than 3,000 from October 2020 to December 2020.
At the annual level, the number of persons in employment decreased in both activities, in the former by 13.5%, in the latter by 2.2%.
