The value of industrial production higher than a month ago
In May 2023, industrial activity, turnover in industry and the value of stocks increased at the monthly level.
Industrial production up at the monthly level and still down at the annual level
After the fall in the previous month, in May the value of industrial production increased at the monthly level by 7.9%. It was higher in manufacturing by 8.9% and in mining and quarrying by 5.5%, while in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply it was 6.5% lower.
At the monthly level, the value of industrial production increased the most in capital goods industries (by 6.0%), followed by consumer goods industries (by 4.3%) and intermediate goods industries (by 2.2%).
At the annual level, the total value of industrial production continued to fall. It was 4.9% lower than in May last year and 5.4% lower than the average for the previous year.
Turnover in industry higher at the monthly and annual level
In May, turnover was higher by 6.0% at the monthly level and by 0.7% at the annual level. It grew in the non-domestic market (by 7.1%) as well as in the domestic market (by 3.7%). Turnover at the monthly level increased in manufacturing by 6.3%, while in mining and quarrying it decreased by 8.8%.
As regards main industrial groupings, turnovers at the monthly level increased in intermediate goods industries (by 6.0%) as well as in capital goods industries (by 2.5%) and consumer goods industries (by 2.2%).
At the annual level, total turnover in industry was higher by 0.7%. In manufacturing it was higher by 0.9%, while in mining and quarrying it was lower by 15.7%.
The value of stocks of industrial products also higher
The value of stocks in industrial production was 1.0% higher than in the previous month and 16.3% higher than a year ago. At the monthly level, the value of stocks increased in mining and quarrying (by 10.8%) and in manufacturing (by 0.9%).
