Consumer confidence up at the end of the year
The value of the consumer confidence indicator was below the long-term average throughout 2024.
At the monthly level up
The consumer confidence indicator improved by 2 percentage points (p.p.) compared to November. Similar to last year, consumer opinion was at low levels this year and below the long-term average all year.
The increase in the value of the indicator resulted mainly from more optimistic consumer opinions on current households’ finances (higher by 7 p.p.). Expectations about the country’s economy and about households’ finances also improved (by 3 and 1 p.p., respectively), while expectations about major purchases slightly deteriorated (by 1 p.p.).
Improvement also at the annual level
Compared to last year’s December, the value of the consumer confidence indicator was 5 p.p. higher, and was 6 p.p. above last year’s average.
At the annual level, opinions on current households’ finances, expectations about households’ finances, and expectations about the country’s economy improved (by 10, 8, and 1 p.p., respectively). Expectations about major purchases remained at the same level.

The data are based on the Consumer Survey, which was answered by 768 persons between 1 and 15 December 2024.
