The number of job vacancies down for the seventh time
In the 4th quarter, there were fewer job vacancies, which is typical of the last period of the year. The job vacancy rate is two tenth of a percentage point lower. The number of occupied posts slightly increased, but is still lower than a year ago, when the highest value was recorded.

For the seventh consecutive time fewer job vacancies
The number of job vacancies has been decreasing for the seventh consecutive quarter, i.e. almost two years. In the 4th quarter of 2024, about 17,900 job vacancies were recorded, which was 7.5% fewer at the quarterly level. The year-on-year comparison shows by 14 % decrease in demand for new jobs, which means almost 2,900 fewer vacancies.
The greatest demand was in construction where employers were looking for 3,200 new employees, slightly fewer demand was in manufacturing (around 3,100). More actively than usual, employers in the professional, scientific and technical activities were also looking for new employees this time (around 1,200), which is almost a quarter more job vacancies than a quarter earlier.
Again more occupied posts
The number of occupied posts constantly decreased in the first three quarters of 2024, but increased in the last quarter. In the observed quarter, there were 804,000 occupied posts, or 1,400 more than in the previous quarter. Quarter-on-quarter growth was the most significant in healthcare (by almost 700 more) and transport (by about 580 more). The largest decline was recorded in administrative and support activities (by 800 fewer) and in construction (by about 680 fewer).
The year-on-year comparison, i.e. the 4th quarter of 2024 with the same quarter last year, shows a decrease in the number of occupied posts (by about 6,700 fewer). The year-on-year decline is also more pronounced because a year ago the highest value of the number of occupied posts was recorded (slightly more than 810,700) since this survey was conducted.
Job vacancy rate down as well
In the 4th quarter of 2024, the share of vacancies among all posts in Slovenia was 2.2%, which is a two tenth of a percentage point lower as in the previous quarter. Compared to the same quarter a year earlier, it went down by 0.3 of a percentage point. The rate was the highest in administrative and support activities (5.1%), followed by construction (4.7%).
At employers with 10 or more persons in employment, the job vacancy rate was 1.8%, which is a tenth of a percentage point lower as in the previous quarter; this rate was the highest (5.3%) in administrative and support service activities.
