Average monthly gross earnings for December 2016 2.0% lower than earnings for November 2016
Average monthly gross earnings for December 2016 amounted to EUR 1,653.67. Compared to November 2016 they were lower by 2.0%, mainly due to the lower share of extra payments. In comparison with earnings for 2015, average monthly gross earnings for 2016 were higher by 1.9% in real terms.

Average monthly gross earnings for December 2016 amounted to EUR 1,653.67; compared to earnings for the previous month they were lower in nominal terms by 2.0% and in real terms by 1.5%. Average monthly net earnings for December 2016 amounted to EUR 1,074.27; compared to earnings for the previous month they were lower by 1.2% in nominal terms and by 0.7% in real terms.
Compared to November 2016, average monthly earnings for December 2016 decreased mostly due to lower extra payments (13th month payments and Christmas bonuses).
Average monthly earnings for 2016 amounted to EUR 1,584.66 gross and to EUR 1,030.16 net. Compared to average monthly earnings for 2015 they were higher; both in nominal terms (gross by 1.8% and net by 1.7%) and in real terms (gross by 1.9% and net by 1.8%).
Average monthly earnings for 2016 higher than earnings for 2015 in both sectors, public and private
Compared to November 2016, average monthly net earnings for December 2016 were lower in the private sector by 3.6%, while in the public sector they were higher by 3.0% (in institutional sector general government they were higher by 2.0%).
For 2016, average monthly net earnings in the public sector amounted to EUR 1,185.60 and in the private sector to EUR 950.65. In comparison with the previous year, average monthly net earnings for 2016 were higher in both sectors, in the public sector by 2.0% and in the private sector by 1.6%.
The highest average monthly earnings for 2016 received by persons employed in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply
The highest average monthly net earnings for December 2016 were received by persons employed in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (EUR 1,532.26), and the lowest by persons employed in administrative and support service activities (EUR 736.66). Similar considerations apply also for the entire year 2016.
Compared to the previous month, average monthly net earnings for December 2016 decreased the most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 6.7%) and in financial and insurance activities (by 5.8%), and they increased the most in transportation and storage (by 11.8%). Compared to earnings for 2015, average monthly net earnings for 2016 increased the most in public administration and defence, compulsory social security (by 4.1%).
Average monthly net earnings for 2016 higher than the national average only in the Osrednjeslovenska and in the Jugovzhodna Slovenija statistical regions
The highest average monthly net earnings for 2016 were received by persons employed in the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region, they amounted to EUR 1,118.06 or 8.5% more than the national average; net earnings higher than the national average were also received by persons employed in Jugovzhodna Slovenija. Compared to earnings for 2015, average monthly net earnings for 2016 increased in all statistical regions; the most in the Koroška (by 2.5%) and in the Goriška (by 2.2%) statistical regions, and the least in the Primorsko-notranjska (by 0.7%) statistical region.
