Average gross earnings for June 2020 by 4.2% lower than earnings for May 2020
Average gross earnings for June 2020 amounted to EUR 1,812.72. They were lower than gross earnings for May 2020, in nominal terms by 4.2% and in real terms by 5.4%. Compared to average gross earnings for June 2019 they were higher in nominal terms by 5.5% and in real terms by 5.8%.
Average earnings for June 2020 lower than earnings for May 2020, but higher than earnings for June 2019
Average gross earnings for June 2020 amounted to EUR 1,812.72. Compared to gross earnings for May 2020 they were lower in nominal terms by 4.2% and in real terms by 5.4%. Average net earnings for June 2020 amounted to EUR 1,175.47 and were lower than net earnings for May 2020, in nominal terms by 5.5% and in real terms by 6.7%.
If average earnings were calculated by the number of persons in paid employment on the basis of paid hours (and not on the basis of the number of persons in paid employment), average gross earnings for June 2020 would be lower than gross earnings for May 2020 by 7.3% (in nominal terms).
The drop in average earnings for June 2020 (compared to earnings for May 2020) was largely the result of termination of emergency relief compensation in line with the Intervention Measures Act and/or collective agreements for working in time of the COVID-19 epidemic, and partly a result of the introduction of a subsidy for part-time work (this led to an increase in the number of employees who worked part-time).
Compared to gross earnings for June 2019, average gross earnings for June 2020 increased, in nominal terms by 5.5% and in real terms by 5.8%.
Average earnings for June 2020 lower than earnings for May 2020 in both sectors, public and private
Compared to earnings for May 2020, average gross earnings for June 2020 decreased in both sectors, in the public sector by 4.6% (in the institutional sector general government they decreased by 5.1%) and in the private sector by 3.3%.
Average gross earnings for June 2020 the highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply
The highest average gross earnings for June 2020 were paid in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (EUR 2,905.56). Compared to average gross earnings for May 2020, average gross earnings for June 2020 also increased the most in that activity (by 12.2%; mainly due to higher extra payments, paid with earnings for June 2020).
Compared to average gross earnings for May 2020, average gross earnings for June 2020 decreased the most in human health and social work activities (by 13.7%).
