Average earnings for December 2020 lower than earnings for November 2020
Average gross earnings for December 2020 amounted to EUR 2,021.21. Compared to gross earnings for November 2020, they were lower in nominal terms (by 0.3%) and about the same in real terms. Average net earnings for December 2020 amounted to EUR 1,314.62 and were lower than net earnings for November 2020, in nominal terms by 1.0% and in real terms by 0.7%.

Average monthly gross earnings for 2020 amounted to EUR 1,856.20. Compared to average monthly gross earnings for 2019, they were higher in nominal terms by 5.8% and in real terms by 5.9%. Average monthly net earnings for 2020 amounted to EUR 1,208.65. Compared to average monthly net earnings for 2019, they were higher in nominal terms by 6.6% and in real terms by 6.7%.

Average monthly earnings for 2020 increased more in the public sector
Compared to earnings for November 2020, average gross earnings for December 2020 decreased in the private sector by 2.9%; mainly due to fewer extra payments (13^th month payments and Christmas bonuses) paid with earnings for December 2020. In the public sector average gross earnings for December 2020 were higher than earnings for November 2020 by 3.8% (in the institutional sector general government they went up by 4.5%).

Compared to average monthly gross earnings for 2019, average monthly gross earnings for 2020 increased in both sectors: in the private sector by 4.4% and in the public sector by 7.8% (in the institutional sector general government they went up by 9.9%). Such a high increase in the public sector over the previous year was among other things the result of payments of allowances related to the COVID-19 epidemic.

Average monthly earnings for 2020 increased the most in human health and social work activities
The highest average gross earnings for December 2020 were paid in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (EUR 2,947.41) and the lowest in accommodation and food service activities (EUR 1,203.63). Average monthly gross earnings for 2020 were also the highest and the lowest in those activities.

Compared to average monthly gross earnings for 2019, average monthly gross earnings for 2020 increased the most in human health and social work activities (by 17.7%; mainly due to the payments of allowances related to the COVID-19 epidemic); they decreased the most in accommodation and food service activities (by 3.8%).

Average monthly earnings for 2020 the highest in the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region
Average monthly gross earnings for 2020 were the highest in the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region (they amounted to EUR 2,057.92 and were higher than the national average by 10.9%) and the lowest in Primorsko-notranjska statistical region (they amounted to EUR 1,632.87).
