At the annual level and the level of the first two months, the value of external trade in goods grew, more significantly in exports, mainly due to the higher value of operations involving processing in trade with EU non-member countries.

Less meat gained than the month before
About 3,900,000 poultry, 18,200 pigs and 7,700 cattle were slaughtered in Slovenian slaughterhouses in January. In this way, about 7,200 tonnes of poultry meat, 1,700 tonnes of pig meat, and 2,300 tonnes of bovine meat were gained.

Traffic of goods vehicles up the most at road border crossings with Italy
Passenger vehicle traffic increased the most at road border crossings with Austria, by 4%, while goods vehicles went up the most at the border with Italy, by 14%. Trailers and tractors accounted for half of all last year’s goods vehicle traffic at road border crossings.

Natural gas prices for households lower, for non-households higher
Average natural gas prices for household consumers in Slovenia went down by 3% in the fourth quarter of 2024, while natural gas prices for non-household consumers went up by 13%. Average electricity prices for households decreased by 12% while for non-households they increased by 7%.

Less butter, drinking milk and cheese, more acidified milk and cream year-on-year
Milk production has been increasing in recent months. In February, it was slightly lower than a year ago, but only due to the leap year effect. Dairies produced less butter, drinking milk and cheese, but more acidified milk and cream.
