More residents below the at-risk-of-poverty threshold
The at-risk-of-poverty threshold was EUR 827 per month. 12.1% of residents of Slovenia were living below the threshold. 13.3% of people were at risk of poverty or social exclusion.
In 2022, the at-risk-of-poverty rate in Slovenia was 12.1% and it increased by 0.4 p.p. compared to the previous year. It was only lower in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2019 and 2021.
The at-risk-of-poverty threshold for a one-member household was set at EUR 827 per month and was EUR 56 higher than in the previous year. About 252,000 residents of Slovenia were living below the at-risk-of-poverty threshold.
More people at risk of poverty or social exclusion
The at-risk-of-poverty or social exclusion rate was 13.3%. Compared to 2021, it increased by 0.1 p.p. About 277,000 residents of Slovenia were at risk of poverty or social exclusion.
More persons than a year before were at-risk-of-poverty or social exclusion due to the increase in two out of three social exclusion indicators: the at-risk-of-poverty rate increased by 0.4 p.p. and the very low work intensity rate increased by 0.2 p.p.; the severe material deprivation rate decreased by 0.4 p.p.

The calculation of at-risk-of-poverty threshold, at-risk-of-poverty rate and other income indicators is based on the income earned in 2021.
The source for data on living conditions is the Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC), which was implemented with the survey in 2022 (survey year) and the use of administrative and registers data mostly for 2021 (income reference year).
In today's release provisional data are published. The final data may differ slightly from the provisional data due to further statistical processing. They will be published on 24 February 2023.
